The Low Key Weekend

What a nice, relaxing weekend it was. I was hoping for a low key weekend to get some stuff done around the house and that's exactly what I got.

Friday night was a nice dinner with Alisha after a pretty nice day at work.

Saturday morning I had brunch with Cristina after we went to WW. I love brunching on a Saturday--I think it sets the tone for the day. After that, I met my Dad at my house because he was dropping off something for me (see bel0w) and I watched the Syracuse game. The sun was shining so I thought I'd head up to Tablerock to take a walk. I've REALLY missed my walks up there since it's been under snow and I don't have appropriate footwear.

I just got a new memory card for my blackberry so I have been taking LOTS of pictures with that.

Love the views (even with the snow) The view of O-State (for my alum friends) This was my favorite part of the walk--it was so nice to see the sun. After that I hit up a basketball game on campus and then ran some errands before I headed home to hang out with a friend.

Today (like last Sunday) was a great day to stay at home and organize closets a project that has been on my list to do. Last weekend I did the accessories closet. This is what the result of that.

This closet is a stairwell that was blocked off at the landing when this house was made into two apartments. So there are bars hanging all the way up the stairs. It's the perfect place to put my bags and all the seasonal clothing. But the new thing are the hanging organizers for scarves, hats, wallets, etc. But TODAY I spent a majority of the day going through my dressers and closet to reorganize everything (and get rid of stuff). As I mentioned above, my Dad brought me the China cabinet that I've never had room for before now.

I put it in my bedroom because I definitely could always use more storage in there. I never thought of using this for something other than dishes before but I'm so glad I did. It has glass doors so I put fabric on the inside of the glass. I'm happy with the way it turned out. It's on the other side of the fireplace and blocked the long window. Now I can focus on what curtains I want to put up there.
Here is the inside. I'm using it for t-shirts and sweatshirts mostly.
I did manage to get a good workout in this afternoon too. Unlike most, I have to work tomorrow so I'm watching the Golden Globes and then hitting the bed.

What did you do this weekend?

All About The Socks.

In the last year I've had to replace pretty much ALL of my clothes because nothing fit me (in the too big kind of way). I pretty much only have a handful of dress pants that fit right now so I decided that I would extend my wardrobe by wearing tights, leggings, and boots with dresses and skirts (I have a lot of dresses/skirts). Then a few months ago I realized that I could even use knee socks. Whoa. It's a little sassy. It's a little school girl. It may be a little silly, but I like it. So today was a knee sock day. It's not my cutest pair but I like them.

Here they are taken in my office mirror reflection. Up close. My scarf coordinates with the pink too.
So there you have it. Another way for me to extend my closet through these cold winter months. What's your "it" fashion thing right now?

Monday and Mascara

It's Monday afternoon. I'm supposed to be doing work. It's cold out, but I refuse to wear bulky sweaters and boring dress pants. I am wearing a short sleeve dress, tights, boots and a cute scarf. I'd like to think of it as me flipping winter the finger (of the middle variety). I spent the weekend inside avoiding the extreme temperatures. I spent some time organizing my hall closet (or as I'd like to call it, the accessories closet). It's the closet dedicated to bags, coats, seasonal clothes, and luggage. Since I moved in, it was just thrown in there and I hadn't really made sense of it. Now it's organized and I feel better. Wow. I really do love organizing. At least I'll never be featured on that show Hoarders (and by the way, watching that show makes me REALLY uncomfortable.) I love when I organize things because I always find something that I forgot about in a box. Yesterday it was a bunch of scarves and THESE slippers. My friend, Barb got them for me last year. They are so cute and since Syracuse Basketball is doing so well, I decided that it was a good time to take off the tags and wear them. So cute. Go Orange!
Anyway, since I haven't blogged in awhile I wanted to share one of my favorite Christmas presents with you. The Sephora Mascara Sampler Set. It's so much fun and it provides me something to look forward in the morning mirror routine. I can choose a different mascara every morning. Love it! My friend, Jill was my secret santa. An on point secret santa. Clearly.

Okay, back to work. The students came back today so I actually have to be thinking of things besides my outfits and what mascara to use. Reality. sigh.

Happy Monday!

...And She Blogs

Yes, after a very long hiatus from the Lipgloss Lounge, I'm coming back and I have a few posts from December that have been sitting unpublished that I plan to publish very soon...

Life has been a whirlwind in the last month or so. I've missed blogging. I've missed reading your blogs. I guess I needed a break though. I'm feeling renewed in the new year. Ready to capture the moments and thoughts of my life.

And just to demonstrate this--here's a picture of my favorite boots (taken by my friend Cristina on NYE--and btw this is a perfect place to store lipgloss) I told you I was ready to capture the moments and thoughts of my life. So what if they aren't all deep and meaningful?

Get ready, friends --it's going to be a fun year!
