Nifty Fifty

I've spent my weekend on the couch sleeping. It was a rough Friday night. But I did want to share some good news. On Saturday I hit a big milestone. I have officially lost 50 lbs! Yay!
More soon....Hope you had a great weekend!

Full of Croc.

Happy Father's Day to the greatest Dad ever! I absolutely love this picture of him (he'll probably hate it) but it was Christmas morning a few years ago and he was being a goof ball with Gabby. He was probably mocking me about something--hence the look. I went over to see him today--it was fun. I hope you had a good day, Dad! Since I posted about my new toy yesterday, I have spent a lot of time on the phone with Verizon technical support. First I couldn't make calls. And tonight I couldn't get on the browser. But it all seems to be working fine now and they've (technical support) assured me that I won't have to speak to them everyday.

Also in my excitement about my BlackBerry (to be known as the GreenBerry from this point forward) I didn't get to tell you all about another purchase yesterday. This is big for me.

I actually spent money on Crocs. Yes, you read that right. Crocs. I normally hate everything that Crocs stand for. I don't think they are cute or redeeming in any way. BUT, my assumptions were challenged when I found these. (My friend, Alisha has them and I liked them on her but had forgotten about them until I saw them in the store yesterday.) I tried them on (with a roll of my eyes) and then all of my judgement was silenced because they are REALLY comfortable and cute on. I actually can't wait to wear them this week. I still refuse the traditional style Crocs, but at least I am trying the brand. :)
I think I'm going to head to bed so I can get up early and be really productive. I hope you all had a great weekend.
Happy Father's Day to my Dad!

My New Friend

Yes, I'm a slacker. Yes, I have a million things I want to post about. Yes, I feel like I've neglected reading others blogs.

BUT I have to post this because it's fun. Today has been really rainy. Like annoying rainy. So I spent the day running around doing some errands after I cleaned out some drawers and watched Revolutionary Road (totally depressing, btw). I went to dinner with Alisha and Dan and then Alisha and I headed over to Verizon. I was going to attempt to whine my way into a new phone. It worked and I finally got the object of my desire. A BlackBerry. Yes, it's true. So it can rain all it wants. I'll be spending my Saturday night in with my new little friend. :)

Happy Saturday!

Back to Reality

It's Monday at lunch time and I was just thinking about what a wonderful and relaxing weekend I had. I can't say I did anything terribly exciting but that's what made it wonderful. I'm a really social person and I spend a majority of my days talking and interacting with people. Sometimes it's nice to spend some quality time alone. And it's just what I needed. I've been so bijigitty lately (about things I can't control) that I needed a good time out to really snap back to reality.

Friday: Took a LONG walk, cleaned my apartment, did laundry and went to bed early.

Saturday: Walk, WW meeting, napped, cleaned out some dresser drawers, went to the mall, tanning, fell asleep watching a movie.

Sunday: Took an extra long walk with Jill, had some lunch, went to the store for a few groceries and came home to realize that it was a perfect day to sit outside. I spread out a big blanket, grabbed a stack of magazines, my iced coffee and my iPod and settled in for hours of uninterrupted bliss in the sun. It was fantastic--once I realized the only thing that would make this better was for me to have a beach chair. I ran to Walgreen's to get one immediately. I was sad when my day on the "beach" was over.

And today I was excited to wake up and start a new week. I think this weekend really helped put things back into perspective and to motivate me to face some stuff I need to face (the apartment search) and to stop getting bijiggity over my crushes. I guess all it took was some reflection and quiet time.
On a different note, I finally got to see Weeds Season 4. I have one more disc to go and I can't wait to get it tomorrow. I love this show--it's so compelling. I never thought a show about a pot dealing mom would be interesting, but it is. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it.

What was the best thing about your weekend?

Clippings

I've mentioned before how much I like magazines. I think it's fun to see how clothes are displayed and featured in the pages of those magazines. I keep a binder handy so I can clip things I see. I've done this for years and I've always found it to be a fun hobby. It's not that I'm going to run out and buy what I clip out, but I like to keep it handy. Just in case. Mostly, I think I just like to admire how clothes tell a story and set a mood. I'm hardly a fashionista but I really appreciate clothes and find it fun to look at them in the glossy pages that I subscribe to each month.
Well, today I got the July issue of Marie Claire and found this cute little Kate Spade dress featured. I LOVE it! (I'm completely ignoring the $355 price tag). It's so adorable. I really wish I had the budget to support this...and that I had a fun occasion to wear it to. Sigh...someday.
For now I'm going to get in my nightgown and get into bed. I have to be up early for the last freshmen orientation session of the summer. Yay!

Distraction

I'm the worst blogger ever lately. Thanks for your book suggestions. I will be posting my book list soon. I have been wanting to update every day but I'm REALLY distracted with some stuff right now and I haven't had anything fun to write about. I can't seem to concentrate. On anything. It's highly annoying.

I'm also in serious avoidance about some stuff I need to do. Namely, finding a new place to live. I've wanted a new apartment for a LONG time but now I'm not quite as excited about it as I once was. And every day I wake up with intentions to focus, but then I get distracted by random other things. Does this ever happen to you?
Meet my new distraction tonight:My friend Alisha gave me the Bumpit for watching her cat while she was away. . I've been fascinated by the infomercial since I first saw it. Thanks so much, Alisha. You are so thoughtful and you know what I like! :)

Here is my first attempt to use the Bumpit with the headband. It's definitely fun! And for the record, I really miss my camera. (This was taken with my phone). I guess I'll focus on real stuff tomorrow. After all, I need big hair to find a new place to live, right?

Have a great night!

Summer Reading

I'm trying to get my summer life in order and the first day of June seems like a good day to make my summer reading list.

I need suggestions.

What have you read recently that you recommend?
