This past weekend was great! Saturday was a fun night. A bunch of us went on the Blues Train (for the third and final time this summer). Oh, I can't wait for next summer already.
I don't have much time to spend writing entertaining stories from the weekend (OH, and there are some good ones) but my friend, Cristina sent this to me and I thought it was great! Because that's how I roll right now.
Happy Monday!

Orange Crush
Vera has made me very happy today. In the form of Paprika. I saw it at the college bookstore and fell in love. It's so cute in real life. I can't wait to get it. If you are looking to buy me a present (as I'm sure you all are) I'd love this pattern in a tote. Thanks!

A Little of This....
It's been awhile. I haven't had a moment to sit down to do anything remotely relaxing since the students returned and I moved into my new house. (updating my facebook status doesn't really count). I'm slowly making my life organized again. Everyday I try to do something that is productive. Sometimes that means at work and sometimes it's at home....
Things are not the completely settled and unpacked but I do have the kitchen mostly done. I got a cute curtain for the kitchen window at my favorite country store Country Junction. This seemed to be the catalyst I needed to get this room done.

I really love the material.
Please ignore the dishes drying in the sink.

In other news my stitches are out of my finger but it's not completely healed yet. I am still sporting a band aid and Neosporin. I'm considering it my fall look. :)

You've seen this before, but I hung the shutters I purchased near the windows. Still trying to decide on what kind of window treatment I'll use...
So that's the apartment stuff. As I finish other rooms, I'll share. I'm just happy I can once again cook at home and relax on the couch if I need to. Everything else will come in time....

Last weekend I needed a pick me up of the accessories variety so I picked up these cute shoes at Payless (sometimes Payless really does well)
And I got this cute silk scarf at the Grand and Glorious Garage Sales in town. It's so pretty in person. I can't wait to rock it.In other news my stitches are out of my finger but it's not completely healed yet. I am still sporting a band aid and Neosporin. I'm considering it my fall look. :)
That's what's up with me. I've been so out of the blog loop lately. I have some serious catching up to do.
I hope you are all having a great week!

The Finger
I woke up Saturday morning a few hours before my WW meeting, so I had some motivation to get my kitchen settled. Great. I thought I was going to get it done and then...
I reached to open a drawer and the knob broke off. Right onto my middle finger. Apparently the knobs are porcelain and they are really sharp. It cut my pretty deep and I took one look at it and knew I needed stitches. Cristina came over to give me a second opinion. Her vote was yes, stitches were indeed in order. There went my morning of unpacking. Dang.
I grabbed some gauze pads to control the bleeding and stopped in at WW to get weighed. I lost 1.2 lbs this week. (It may have been been the blood loss) and then Cristina treated me to some coffee before I set out to the walk-in clinic to get stitched up.
Six stitches later, I have a Franken-finger.

After the ordeal (ha ha) I headed to work (it's still Welcome Weekend for freshmen) to see a comedian, a BBQ dinner, and then to the first football game of the season.
The Mascot (Swoop) and I at the football game
I woke up this morning to the sound of a hot air balloon outside. Kind of random. But neat. I stood on the deck watching it for a bit. Thursday, September 3, 2009
Looking Ahead
I'm taking a break from unpacking tonight. I had my cable and internet hooked up today so I figured I'd curl up on the couch to watch some TV and catch up on facebook and blogs. I have to be at work really early in the morning to help welcome the first year students back to campus. It got me thinking that I can't believe it's really that time of the year. The summer went by way too quickly. I had a great summer for the most part. But now I am looking ahead to some things this fall:
1. Fall decorations--I LOVE the colors and smells in the fall. I was at Bath & Body tonight and saw this cute candle (and it smells amazing). I'm going to need this asap--I didn't get it tonight because I need to unpack before I start bringing more in here. There is also an acorn version too.
2. Going to the local cider mill and a few area museums.
3. Having a great housewarming party at the end of this month.
4. Wearing the new fall clothes that I've picked up this summer and shopping for some more.
5. Going on one more Blues Train ride for the year. I love the Blues Train.
6. Going to a Buffalo Bills game with my Dad
7. Finding new home improvement projects to work on.
8. Watching new episodes of my favorite shows (30 Rock, It's Always Sunny, The Office)
9. Planning and attending my graduate school 5 year reunion
10. Pumpkin Coffee from Dunkin Donuts. (!)
Fall is my favorite season so I'm sure I'll keep adding to this list. What are you looking forward to this fall?

Phase II
Last night the second round of moving my stuff commenced. It went well. Now it's time to unpack, organize, and decorate. In between starting a new school year. You know how I hate to be bored, right?
Here's a quick glimpse of the moving and the new home.

The rest of the place is filled with boxes.
Thanks to Cristina, Tim, Jared, Dad, Emily and little Sam for helping me! I'm so lucky to have such great friends and family.
Happy September!
