On the Run

Well, tonight seems like an appropriate/ironic night to post this. I'm currently sitting on the couch with a heating pad pressed up on my back. Because this morning I went to work (my first day back from vacation) and I developed some incredible lower back pain. And for no good reason. I've done nothing that would be considered stressful. Eh, whatever. I'm sure it's nothing serious. I probably slept wrong.

In any case, I want to hold myself accountable to something that's important to me. I've recently started a Couch to 5K training program. Let me start by saying that I've never been a runner. I mean, I played sports, and I like to exercise but I wasn't a person that thought running was redeeming in any way. But I decided that I'd like to actually run a 5K to prove to myself that I could do it. I know that it probably doesn't seem that impressive but I never thought I would be doing it. I picked a local race called the Pit Run. It's a big event in my community and I have traditionally done the walk...so I figured I'd stay close to home to do my first race. It's the first Sunday in October so I started my program and I'm actually a little ahead of the training. It's early but I think I might enjoy running a little. We'll see how I feel in a few weeks. ;)I'll periodically talk about this because I need to hold myself accountable. And I'm excited to try something new. Any advice from any of you that have run a 5K before?

Stay tuned for updates and thanks in advance for listening!
